Chocolate Lily Nomination

Where's Burgess?

I am thrilled that Where's Burgess? (Orca Book Publishers, 2018) has been nominated for a Chocolate Lily Book Award. What is that you ask? In 2002, the Chocolate Lily Book Awards were created to increase literacy for grade school children in British Columbia while also celebrating BC authors and illustrators.
They are a registered non-profit reader's choice award.
Their name was inspired by the Chocolate Lily, a spring flowering plant that grows in coastal woodland areas in British Columbia, but nowhere else in Canada.

It is their seventeenth year of offering this literacy program to BC schools and families. Students from BC schools read the nomminated titles and vote for their favourite book.

There are three categories
  • Picture Books, as voted by students in kindergarten - grade 4
  • Chapter Book/Early Novel for grades 2 - 4
  • Novels for grades 4 - 7
